Each and every candidate who comes to the doors of our friaries is influenced by the Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who inspires and guides us in our journey of life. Jesus Says, “No one can come to me unless drawn by the Father who sent me” (Jn. 6:44).
To follow Jesus means to live as He lived: always on the way, proclaiming the reign of God. The Franciscan Capuchin Tradition invites all to follow the poor, humble and crucified Christ in which one will discover the true happiness and be free from all sort of pride, greed and possessions.
St. Francis writes, “And after the Lord gave me some brothers, no one showed me what I had to do, but the Most High Himself revealed to me that I should live according to the pattern of the Holy Gospel…those who came to receive life gave whatever they had to the poor and were content with one tunic, patched inside and out, with a cord and short trousers…” (Testament of St. Francis of Assisi, 14-17)
Having the same feeling of Jesus and following Him after the example of St. Francis of Assisi is the ultimate and fundamental criterion of our charism and the Gospel is the form of our life. It is said about St. Francis, “He was always with Jesus! Jesus in his heart, Jesus in his mouth, Jesus in his hears, Jesus in his eyes, Jesus in his hands, he bore Jesus always in his whole body” (1 Cel. 115). We, the Capuchin friars minor, desire nothing else, seek nothing else, delight and take pleasure in nothing else but in the Lord.
Do you believe that you are inspired by the Holy Spirit? Do you want to follow Christ more nearly and love Him more dearly? Do you wish to consecrate and give yourself entirely for His sake in the Franciscan capuchin religious way of life after the footprints of St. Francis of Assisi who is called the Second Christ, the first one to receive the stigmata (the five most precious woods of our Lord Jesus), the patron of ecology and the herald of peace?
We, the Franciscan Capuchin friars in Ghana, welcome you to our fraternity to come and experience our way of life. We could accompany you to discern your vocation and be part of the Franciscan Capuchin Family.
